Who we are and
What we do

We are a group of local volunteers who enjoy meeting in the garden and also enjoy working together. We are trying to grow lots of varieties of different fruit, vegetables and flowers.

We usually meet up when jobs need doing, albeit there is always some general maintenance (including weeding) to be done.
As we develop the plot, more elements will be added slowly but surely to the garden.

We aren't expert gardeners by any stretch of the imagination but we are keen and enjoy trying to grow a variety of produce.

In our first year we grew - outdoor tomatoes, outdoor cucumber, runner beans, broad beans, dwarf French beans, winter squash, beetroot, savoy cabbage, cauliflower, white onion, red onion, maize (sweet corn), lettuce, raspberries and gooseberries. We have since added strawberries, garlic and rhubarb to our plant portfolio and have added additional crops now our new polytunnel is operational.

Our flower bed produced some stunning results with one Giant Sunflower exceeding 2.75 metres (over 9 feet) tall and another 30 cm (one foot) in diameter flower head !

In addition we planted some heritage apple and pear trees on the site which we hope will bear fruit in the coming years.

We have also had some reasonable success with the wild flowers that were sown too.

You will find some pictures on the two Gallery pages.

You can also see some of the progress we have made in our 2024 video below ...
